Dawn, early morning light, children are playing - it is a time of discovery
SECOND PANEL - ADOLESCENCE
Butterflies emerging from their chrysalises
THIRD PANEL - THE AWAKENING OF DESIRE
The graces - their bodies are strong but their minds are in turmoil
THE FOURTH PANEL - CONCEPTION
Woman in all her pregnant glory - the creator
THE FIFTH PANEL - MATERNITY
Maternity, suckling the child at her breast - plenitude.
THE SIXTH PANEL - MATURITY AND LOSS
Autumn, the fruit are ripe but the body becomes tired. The breast, source of beauty in youth and nourishment for the newborn child, becomes a source of anguish.
THE SEVENTH PANEL - DEATH AND REBIRTH
Drawing the veil - death, and the spirit leaves to rejoin the cycle of life. The older figures are in mourning but the younger woman pulls back the curtains to let in the light. The dense charcoal drawing represents the skein of life with all it’s mistakes and meandering
